Recommended Equipment for Workshop

Lodging

We will book and secure your room for you! The Ranch at Death Valley will be our headquarters for the trip, and is centrally located to all of the shooting locations each night. We will also hold our daytime editing tutorial classes at the hotel.

Transportation

The most convenient airport to fly into is Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas, NV. The drive to the Oasis at Death Valley where we will be meeting the first night is about 2 hour drive from Las Vegas airport. You will be responsible for you own transportation to and from the airport and shooting locations.

However, I will offer a transportation option for an additional $500 fee. This will include pick-up and drop-off from the airport, as well as travel to all shooting locations.

Physical Requirements

Weather in Death Valley National Park in April is mostly clear with very little rain at all. Temperatures will range from low 50s at night to upper 80s and low 90s during the daytime.

Weather, by nature, is unpredictable and as such we will not cancel any night of shooting due to weather. If there is another location in driving distance that will provide better weather we will do our best call an audible to a better shooting location that night.

This trip does not require an extreme level of fitness at all. The first night will require only about 200-300 yards walking to the shooting location. Night 2 will be about 2 miles of hiking through sand. The night 3 will require about 3-4 miles of walking on easy level salt flats.

Workshop Testimonials

Ryan | Houston, TX

I had an awesome time at Jason’s recent astrophotography workshop in Alabama. The hands-on guidance out in the field made such a difference and he really takes the time to explain techniques and help you get the best possible shots.

Bert | Gulf Breeze, FL

I learned many valuable techniques from him that I can use not only just in astrophotography, but in many other different areas. If you ever have the opportunity to do one of Jason’s seminars, I would strongly suggest doing it, you will never regret it!

Danny | Alanta, GA

Jason is a good teacher and communicator and makes the workshop experience informative, relaxed and fun. He was patient and assisted each student with settings as needed. I hope to do more workshops with him in the future and would highly recommend him for anyone looking to learn or improve upon their astrophotography skills.

Trevor | Sylacauga, AL

Jason’s workshop was a fun night of learning how to do Milky Way photography and Milky Way time lapses. Going in, I’ve never done Milky Way photography outside my iPhone. I was nervous it would be too over my head, but Jason explained everything and was super patient with everyone.
